SUMMARY:Critical Vocabularies: Intersectionality
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a workshop to unpack key languages that we use in our writing\, research\, and dialogues of academia starting off with a really foundational one: Intersectionality! We are thrilled to co-host this workshop with Julia Lane from the Student Learning Commons. The event will take place on Tuesday January 31 from 11:30-1 in WAC Bennet Library room 7301. \nRegister here!\nThrough a combination of open discussion and engagement with relevant research and writing scenarios\, we will consider how the concept of intersectionality can be useful and meaningful in our work as student scholars.\n\nLearning Objectives:  \n  \n\nDevelop a critical understanding of the concept of intersectionality\nEngage in open\, collaborative discussion with peers about intersectional research and writing\nDevelop your own sense of how intersectionality can be a meaningful and useful part of scholarly work\n\n\nAccessibility at this time:\n\n\nthis will be an in person event and will not be recorded\nwe unfortunately do not have the funding for ASL at this time\nthis event will be happening in the WAC Bennett Library at SFU Burnaby campus. we will be wearing masks in this space for the well-being of the community during this time of increased COVID transmission. we will have masks available.\nthe location of the workshop is accessible via elevator.\nthe chairs in the room are “office type” chairs with a mesh back and padded seat.\nthere are gender-neutral washrooms down the hall from the room we are using.\nwe are committed to making this an accessible and safer space for a constellation of sexualities and gender in the films we show\, in the questions we ask\, and how we facilitate discussion.\n\n\n\nThank you wanting to join us for this important discussion!
