What is SFPIRG?

The Simon Fraser Public Interest Research Group (SFPIRG) is a student funded and directed resource centre at SFU. We support environmental and social change through research, education and action.

Semester break office closure
Mon Aug 23 - Mon Sept 6th
The SFPIRG offices will be closed for the semester break. We will be available on email, at sfpirg (at) sfu.ca if you need to contact us during that time. Good luck with exams. The new term starts on Tues Sept 7th. See you then!

Come to one of our orientations and find out more about our programs, services and volunteer opportunities. Each orientation is about 30 minutes and is in our office, TC326, SFU Burnaby. Thurs Sept 9th at 12:30pm, Wed Sept 15 at 1:30pm, Mon Sept 20th at 2:30pm, Tues Sept 28 at 3:30pm, Wed Oct 6th at 12:30pm, Tues Oct 12th at 1:30pm.

Come by and see what SFPIRG is up to. Browse the library, chat with volunteers and staff, ask questions about on-campus social justice work. Free lunch. Friendly folks. All welcome!

New Action Group: Openmedia.ca
Openmedia.ca is a new Action Group at SFPIRG dedicated to promoting an open and democratic communication system in Canada. Their primary goal is to increase student and public awareness and informed participation in Canadian media, cultural, information, and telecommunication policy formation. The SFU OpenMedia.ca is working on variety of initiatives such as holding campus events, educational workshops, high school and university presentations about national media issues and publishing a monthly newsletter. Part of a community project? Need research done? Submit an ARX Research Proposal
Are you part of a local non-profit or grassroots community organization with no time or money for research? SFPIRG's Action Research eXchange program (ARX) connects community groups in need of research with students who do research for credit in their class. ARX is currently seeking community proposals for the upcoming academic year. More info: www.sfpirg.ca/arx/apply
