Project Description
Project Title
Society for Children and Youth of BC Website Re-design
What is the central research question you want answered?
What are the objectives of your project?
Re-design the look and structure of our Society’s website to increase functionality and traffic to our website, thereby increasing public knowledge and awareness of SCY’s work.
Since public awareness and education, resource development and dissemination of information on child rights and child and youth friendly communities underpin and support all of our activities and are central to the mandate of our Society, an effective website is an important component of our communications strategy. The current design and layout of our website however, is outdated and difficult to navigate. We are in need of a more effective design, with research into our target audience in order to make an appropriate layout that it appealing to visitors, reflective of SCY’s longstanding history as a unique child and youth advocacy organization and exciting current initiatives.

Re-design of Society for Children and Youth of BC website:
www.scyofbc.org
Project Description (Use this space to further elaborate on the project)
SCY develops tools and resources, provides training and workshops, advocates on issues, and runs public campaigns to support the well-being of all children and youth in BC. The project will involve the creation of new templates, configuring content to site and updating new graphics into new template look and modifying colours and graphics to make an eye catching website that is an easy to use communication tool for SCY.
How do you plan to use the results of this project?
The newly designed website will be a key component of our public outreach and education in our upcoming province-wide Child Rights Awareness Campaign. The campaign will be focused on engaging children and youth to use their voice and participate in educating the adult population on child rights in BC. A major component of this campaign will be to develop a child rights section of the site to house the campaign and inventory of child rights initiatives in BC.
What larger goal is served by undertaking this project?
To improve the well-being of children and youth in BC by improving the Society for Children and Youth of BC’s ability to communicate with the public and raise awareness of child rights and work around the development of child and youth friendly communities.
