Project Description
Project Title
Local Youth Taking Action for Social and Environmental Justice
Project Abstract (written upon completion)
What is the central research question you want answered?
What are the objectives of your project?
Our question is, "How are youth in the GVRD taking action on issues of social and environmental justice related to globalization?" We want to learn about and document on film some these actions.
Check Your Head provides education, resources, and support for youth for global hope and local action. A large part of our work is sharing stories about and strategies for action. We would like to gather footage of youth taking action and use it as a tool to pass on to other youth. This footage would be used in our workshops, on our website and at our youth film nights.

Size of Project (Number of pages, minutes, cm, etc.)
Flexible. We would like to have several clips that showcase different actions, formatted to use in workshops, on our website and within our organization.
Project Description (Use this space to further elaborate on the project)
The project will include research and outreach to youth who are taking action and making change on issues related to globalization. For example, these issues could include climate change, corporate power, media, free trade, democracy, food and water security, sweatshops, and universal health care.
* The ethics review for this project is already completed.
How do you plan to use the results of this project?
As mentioned above, we will use the results as a means of sharing stories of action with youth. The footage will be used in our workshops, on our website and at our youth film nights as a means of sparking discussion and inspiration.
What larger goal is served by undertaking this project?
The larger goal of the project is to contribute to Check Your Head's capacity to provide resources for and examples of global hope and local action.

We create opportunities for youth to develop critical analysis, hope and tools for action on issues such as democracy, corporate power, economic globalization, the environment, the media and more.
