The Organization
Organization Name
CJSF RADIO
What community do you represent or work with?
The radio station is a volunteer-based organization that is welcoming to members of the SFU campus and to the communities that are within our range. Our range is primarily within the Greater Vancouver area, as heard on 90.1 FM or 93.9 cable FM, however, we have listeners from various locations around the world, listening online at www.cjsf.ca. Because our programming is so varied and our volunteer base is diverse, we represent and impact multiple communities. That said, we are always looking for new voices to be heard and people to work with.
What is your organization/group's goal or mandate?
As a campus/community station, CJSF strives to represent the voices that are under-represented by commercial media. This includes: playing music of multiple genres and origins which is not heard on mainstream radio; producing or re-broadcasting news and other spoken word pieces that represent normally ignored perspectives and stories; and encouraging creativity and providing production and broadcasting opportunities to the wide range of members who join the station. All programming is produced within the regulations of the Broadcasting Act and Radio Regulations as supervised and regulated by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission, or CRTC.
Are you a registered not-for-profit?
