Project Description (Use this space to further elaborate on the project)
The home page will have six main areas: About Us, Health Resources, Health Now campaign, Take Action, Events (main page) and, Contact us. Each of these main pages will have its own content (detailed below), which will include writing, images and pictures. The content will be written by members of the Alliance for People’s Health.

The main pages of the website are six and each is intended to have the following breakdown and content:
1. About us
Content: mission statement
2. Health Resources
Content: A summary of our People’s Health Series and the resources that people found useful or that they didn’t have.
3. Health Now
Content: what is the campaign, ways to get involved, demands
4. Take action
Content: Membership and what it means, our wish list for medical supplies to support organizations overseas.
5. Contact us
Content: (email, phone, address, online feedback page)
6. Upcoming events of the APH and other social justice organizations, information about our Women’s Health Series in Fall 2009 and advocacy drop-in nights.
How do you plan to use the results of this project?
The website has the main objective of linking our organization with the people in the community; that is, it will be the means for us to post our events, information on our medical integrations, resources for low-income and marginalized communities, and progressive health news/analysis. It will also be the means by which people can get in touch with us to get participate in our events.
What larger goal is served by undertaking this project?
The larger goal of this project is to organize people interested in social justice and health to get involved with the Alliance for People’s Health through learning about our work online as well as building a critical health analysis through the use of popular education in our materials. The student will play a critical part in helping us develop the basic layout and maintenance of the website.
The Organization
Organization Name
Alliance for People’s Health
What community do you represent or work with?
We work with low-income people, workers, single moms, immigrants and women of colour. We basically work with people that have difficulties accessing health care in Vancouver. Most of the people that come to our events and participate with us are from the Mount Pleasant area given that our office is located in that neighbourhood.
What is your organization/group's goal or mandate?
The Alliance for People’s Health is an organization of health workers, grassroots organizers and people committed to the struggle for health for all. We envision healthy communities where everyone has access to health care, housing, education, transportation, childcare, food, and meaningful employment. These basic requirements for health cannot be achieved for all under a system that oppresses and exploits working class people, women, people of color and Aboriginal people. The foundations of a healthy world are the just distribution of wealth, national self-determination, and the liberation of oppressed peoples from unjust trade, militarization, occupation and war. For us the struggle for health for all requires community organization, health workers joining local and international movements for social justice, public health care centered on the needs and visions of working-class communities in particular Aboriginal communities, communities of color. We also think that the fight for our health is also the fight for our social, political and economic rights. To this end the Alliance for People’s Health struggles through concrete political campaigns, committed service to our communities and international campaigns for social justice.
