Project Description (Use this space to further elaborate on the project)
We are looking for a summary of the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) and the resources available to people with disabilities.

This research will fit into our broad project called:
Securing our financial future: community legal education and the Registered Disability Savings Plan

The recently established Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) enables people with disabilities and their families to gain more independence through financial planning. The RDSP program is a ground-breaking innovation that allows people with disabilities and their families to save money through a tax deferred savings program and qualify for generous government grants and bonds.

This ARX research will assist us in compiling the most up to date information about this complex process, so we can create tools for the disability community.
How do you plan to use the results of this project?
The ARX research information will be used in our workshop development, manual development for community advocates, and script development for short online videos.
What larger goal is served by undertaking this project?
Through the BCCPD’s Advocacy Access Program and discussion with other community advocates we know that people with disabilities, their families and advocates need help to learn about the RDSP and its application process. This project will perform legal research and produce legal education resources for the community to assist people with disabilities and their advocates to navigate this complex application process.
