Project Description (Use this space to further elaborate on the project)
A student can chose to do corporate research on one or two corporations from the list above. This project is open to as many as 6 students (one for each corporation).
For each corporation, we would like the following questions addressed:
1.) Name the members of the Board of Directors, and specify if they are insider or outsider investors
2.) List any corporate affiliations of each of the board members
3.) List previous Public Private Partnership projects or other for-profit healthcare projects they were involved with, and how much money they earned from it.
4.) List any lawsuits brought against the corporation
5.) Identify donations made to political parties
6.) List any campaigns initiated against them
7.) Brief history of corporation and locations of their headquarters
How do you plan to use the results of this project?
We would like to use the information as part of our on-going struggle to safeguard Medicare.
Information gained from this research will be made available to all Health Coalitions across Canada.
What larger goal is served by undertaking this project?
Maintaining accessible, public healthcare for all Canadians.
The Organization
Organization Name
BC Health Coalition
What community do you represent or work with?
We represent 50 groups from labour and community organizations, working to protect Medicare.
What is your organization/group's goal or mandate?
We are dedicated to the following principles:
1.) Health care is a right - everyone must have the right to high quality, responsive and appropriate health care which is publicly funded, publicly accountable and publicly controlled.
2.) Access to health care must be equitable - regardless of an individual's income, level of ability, age, cultural heritage, sex, sexual orientation or geographical location.
3.) Issues that are basic to good health must be addressed - food, education, income, housing, social support and personal safety determine an individual's ability to achieve and maintain good health.
